Point System

As a member of NHS, you must meet certain requirements every year to ensure that you are helping conribute to the goals of the organization and to ensure that you are holding yourself to the standard that we as NHS members must keep. The NHS Officers keep track of the the members by a point system. Each member is responsible for a certain number of points in specific categories every year. The point requirements are as follows:

Description
Meeting

Achieved by attending a meeting. There are a total of 9 meetings during the school year. If six are not attended, the member will face the Faculty Council and will be considered for expulsion from the organization. Some absences may be excused if an officer is contacted BEFOREHAND and given the excuse.
Philanthropy
14 points this semester
Achieved by participating in any of the NHS events. Many opportunities are available every month. These, along with the points awarded for attending, will be displayed on the Philanthropy page of this website.
Tutoring
6 hours per semester
In order to receive the point at one of these sessions, you must BRING A NON-NHS MEMBER to tutor. At least 4 hours must come from these sessions, the other 2 can be on your own or at the sessions.

Personal Project:
Another Requirement of being a member is the Personal Project. One must be completed every year. It must take at least 10 hours to complete, including preparation time and the actual event. Before holding the event, it must be discussed with Mr. Hetrick. The event does not count if you are being paid for it. A form must be filled out and turned in before the event, and a follow up form must be turned in after. The forms must be picked up from Mr. Hetrick.
