Here you will find information about Philanthropy events to be held by the organization.


The deadline for the canned food drive is April 19th.
1 Can = 1 Philanthropy Point
There is no maximum number of points you can earn for this drive.

General Information:
You need 12 Philanthropy Points per semester.

Reciting the Aim before an NHS Officer
If you accurately recite the Aim of the Memorial NHS, you will receive 1 Philanthropy Point.

The aim of this organization:

To create a closer knit group, in which members feel a responsibility to hold themselves to the highest standard and are no longer simply names on a list but role models of both the school and the community.

Personal Project
Start thinking about what activity you would like to use for your Personal Project.
  • 10 or more hours
    • can be spread over a period of several days
  • must be approved with Mr. Hetrick BEFORE you complete the activity
Point Opportunities for the 2nd Semester:
· Food Bank Sort-A-Thon (2 points)
o Friday, January 14th, 6:00-8:00PM
o Food Bank RGV (Address: 2601 W. Zinnia)
o Sign Up after this meeting
· Walk and Wash (2 points)
o In February, we will have an event with the Palm Valley Animal Center
o We will bathe and walk cats and dogs
o This is currently being set up
o Anyone who wants to attend must fill out a volunteer form and turn it in to Mr. Hetrick (attached to this agenda)
· Dodge Ball Tournament (2 points for volunteering or participating)
o In March, we are going to have a fundraiser for a charity group we are still deciding on
o Any faculty and students can set up their own team of six people (four play at once, and two subs if one gets hit)
o Similar to the movie we all love
o Each player has an entry fee of $5 and every team must come up with a name
o The winner of the tournament will get a prize (cash prize?)
o Volunteers needed to work the entrance and concession stands (can be playing too)
o People may attend to watch (small fee to enter)
· Mujeres Unidas (2 points)
o In April, we will be helping Mujeres Unidas
o We will either for a team for their Raise Awareness Walk-A-Thon (Guys must walk a mile in heels, girls give them water) or we will help out at the Vigil they have for Easter
o More information will be given to you as the event is set up

o School Carnival
· Highway CleanUps
o First Saturday of every month
